Dr. Jessie Zarazaga
Program Director of the Sustainability + Development Program (S+DP) at the Lyle School of Engineering, Dr Zarazaga is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Dept of Civil and Environmental Engineering, director of the GIS lab, and a fellow of the Hunt Institute for Engineering and Humanity. Trained first as an architect and urban designer, Zarazaga’s teaching and practice spans the boundaries of urbanism, landscape design, geospatial mapping, and participatory public engagement. Across all these boundaries, Zarazaga explores ways to connect culture and community to place. Using GIS and participatory community mapping, she explores the impact of civil and environmental choices on the design of the sustainable city. Her research spans education and practice, working on the integration of community research into project based learning, and her practice brings together mapping, global sustainable development, design and creativity.
Dr. Barbara Minsker, Chair CEE
Developing innovative systems approaches to improve sustainability and resilience of coupled human and natural systems. Current research focuses on coupling machine learning and social computing with “big data” and other information technology to address complex problems such as green stormwater infrastructure design, integrated water cycle engineering, combined sewer overflows, hypoxia, and floods and droughts.
Dr. Janille Smith-Collin
Dr. Smith-Colin seeks to advance sustainability and resilience goals through transportation infrastructure systems research, education, and analysis. Research interests include infrastructure systems performance and management; transportation planning, policy and sustainability; transportation injury prevention and safety management; governance of infrastructure projects and organizations; and engineering education.
Dr. Andrew Quicksall
B.S., Environmental Sciences, Texas Christian University, 1998; M.S., Geology, Washington State University, 2000; Ph.D., Earth Science, Dartmouth College, 2009.
Dr. Eva Csaky. director Hunt Institute for Engineering & Humanity
Her work leverages transformational technologies for high impact solutions; from energy efficiency, renewable energy and water purification to climate-smart agriculture and sustainable and inclusive value chains. Financial and policy innovations are integral to all her efforts to ensure sustainability and systemic impact.
